Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,715.81 points, up 0.98 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.47 per cent at 531.95 points. Al Madina Investment, up 9.09 per cent, was the top gainer while Phoenix Power, down 3.70 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Madina Takaful was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 898 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.48 million, with more than 15.96 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded stocks, 16 advanced, 8 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, local Investors were net sellers for OMR258,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR199,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR58,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,654.15 points, up by 0.74 per cent. Al Madina Investment, Oman Qatar Insurance, Al Sharqia Investment, Al Madina and Takaful, United Finance were up by 9.09 per cent, 5.68 per cent, 4.17 per cent, 3.90 per cent, and 2.17 per cent respectively. Bank Nizwa and Bank Muscat were down by 1.03 per cent and 0.99 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4,608.14 points, up 1.38 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Jazeera Steel, Al Anwar Ceramic and Al Maha Ceramics were up by 8.16 per cent, 5.05 per cent, 2.81 per cent, and 0.40 per cent respectively.

Services index was up by 0.24% before closing at 1,622.78 points. Renaissance Service, Ooredoo, OIFC, Omantel and Al Jazeera Service were up by 4.71 per cent, 2.45 per cent, 1.09 per cent, 0.55 per cent and 0.35 per cent respectively.  Phoenix Power and Sembcorp Salalah were down by 3.70 per cent and 2.06 per cent respectively.
