Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,679.68 points, up 0.99 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 1.04 per cent at 529.46 points.

Dhofar Cattle, up 7.79 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman National Engineer, down 4.95 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Galfar Engineering were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Ooredoo was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 872 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.91 million, with more than 14.56 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded stocks, 10 advanced, 20 declined and 13 remained unchanged. At the session close, local Investors were net sellers for OMR831,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR727,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR103,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,612.882 points, up by 0.33 per cent. The Oman Emirates Holding, Al Anwar Holding, United Finance, Bank Nizwa and Sharqia Investment were up by 4.76 per cent, 4.69 per cent, 4.55 per cent, 2.11 per cent and 1.41 per cent respectively. Vision Insurance, Muscat Finance and HSBC Oman were down by 3.41 per cent, 2.27 per cent and 1.12 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4,545.23 points, up 1.83 per cent. Dhofar Cattle, Jazeera Steel, Galfar Engineering, Aluminium Product, and Oman Cement were up by 7.78 per cent, 7.39 per cent, 6.52 per cent, 4.71 per cent, and 3.98 per cent respectively. Voltamp Energy was down by 0.87 per cent.

Services index was up by 0.88 per cent before closing at 1,618.92 points. Ooredoo, National Gas, Al Jazeera Service, OIFC and Renaissance Service were up by 5.7 per cent, 2.84 per cent, 2.34 per cent, 1.1 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively. Oman National Engineer, Al Suwadi Power, and Muscat Gases were down by 0.48 per cent respectively.
