Muscat: The Ministry of Labour has called on private sector establishments to use electronic banking services to transfer salaries and payments starting from 28th February 2021 and to stop using traditional means, based on the notice issued by the Central Bank of Oman. 

A statement issued online by Ministry of Labour said, "Based on the notice issued by the Central Bank of Oman on 12th January 2021, to oblige all banks operating in the Sultanate to provide an easy and smooth mechanism for transferring salaries and payments through electronic banking services and to stop using traditional ways as of 28th February 2021."

Accordingly, the Ministry of Labour notes to all private sector establishments the necessity of adhering to the circular of the Central Bank of Oman, through each establishment reviewing the bank in which its main account is located, in order to find out the new mechanism used to transfer salaries.

"The Ministry affirms the necessity of cooperating with banks and adhering to the date set for the implementation of this initiative at the national level for the public interest," the statement added.
