MUSCAT: Adeel Ahmed Shafique struck a superb century while Khawar Ali claimed 4 for 41 to steer IT Works to another big win over Arm Alpha in a Premier Division 50-over League game at OC Turf 1 in Amerat on Saturday.
IT Works made the most of Alpha’s invitation to bat first, scoring 309 for 9 thanks to brilliant batting by Adeel (105 off 119), Zeeshan Maqsood (71 off 74) and Khurram Khan (53 off 37). Veteran spinner Khalid Rasheed was the pick of Alpha bowlers, taking 4 for 58 while Nalinda Prasad and Bilal Khan bagged two wickets each.
Arm Alpha’s chase started on a disastrous note as it was reduced to 67 for 7 inside the first 25 overs. It never really recovered from the early setbacks and folded up for a disappointing 117 in the 40 th over, Mahek Ashar and Nalinda scoring 22 and 21 respectively. Apart from Khawar’s superb spell, Muhammed Nadeem and Nester Dhamba bowled well too, taking two wickets each.

Karthik, Parvez tons lift DGEC
Magnificent unbeaten centuries by Karthik Rajappa (101 off 47) and Parvez Beg (100 off 53) powered Design Group Engineering Consultants (DGEC) to a thumping 139-run win over OCT Amerat in a C Division T20 League match at Muscat Municipality ground 2 on Friday.
The 193-run second wicket partnership by Karthik and Parvez helped Design Group post a mammoth 253 for 1 on the board. OCT Amerat failed to fight, scoring only 114 for 6 in its 20 overs despite a strokeful 64 off 46 by opener Ahmed Khudadat. Mohammed Firoz and Jijo Jackson took two wickets each.

Adnan takes Maniz to victory
In another C Division game, Adnanul Haq’s excellent all-round show once again helped Maniz Azad International to a nail-biting 7-run victory against Ideal International at Muscat Municipality ground 1.
Adnan’s vital 37 off 41 was the only major score in Maniz Azad’s total of 137 all out in 19.2 overs as Sameer Sheik picked up 3 for 24. Ideal International fought well but was bundled out for 130 in the 19 th over due to brilliant bowling by Shoaib Ismail (4 for 25 and Adnan (3 for 16). Deepak Bhandari topscored with 29.
