Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,641.951 points, up 0.09 per cent from the previous close.

The Sharia Index ended up 0.46 per cent at 521.46 points. Al Jazeera Steel Products, up 6.86 per cent, was the top gainer while National Gas, down 5.33 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Omaniya Financial were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Al Jazeera Steel was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 295 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.48 million, with more than 3.4 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded stocks, 10 advanced, 20 declined and 13 remained unchanged.

At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR3,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR2,000 followed by domestic investors for OMR1,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,600.025 points, down by 0.05 per cent. Bank Muscat was down by 0.49 per cent.

Industrial Index closed at 4,399.28 points, down 0.03 per cent. Al Jazeera Steel and Al Maha Ceramics were up by 6.86 per cent and 5.65 per cent respectively. Dhofar Cattle, Raysut Cement and Al Anwar Ceramic were down by 5.26 per cent, 1.32 per cent and 0.36 per cent respectively.

Services index was up by 0.23 per cent before closing at 1,604.212 points. Omantel, Al Jazeera Service, Al Batinah Power, OIFC and Ooredoo were up by 2.84 per cent, 2.47 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 1.10 per cent and 0.52 per cent respectively. National Gas, Al Kamel Power, and Sembcorp Salalah were down by 5.33 per cent, 2.67 per cent, and 1.02 per cent respectively.
