Muscat: The Sultanate celebrated the Gulf Children's Day on 15th January, an annual event.
A statement issued online by the Oman News Agency (ONA), said: "The Sultanate pays great attention to the upbringing of a child and provides him with complete health care. Friday, 15th January is observed as the Gulf Children’s Day, which the Sultanate celebrates every year to confirm that it provides children with all means of care to grow in a healthy way."
"The Sultanate has established the principle of respecting human rights and the rights of the child in particular, and this is clearly demonstrated through the Basic Laws of the State and the various national legislations and policies that consider childhood a priority and provide an integrated system to protect it."
Lana Khalil Al-Wreikat, representative of the United Nations (UNICEF) office in the Sultanate, explained that the organisation agrees with the Sultanate on a national program every four years that sets the framework for its work in the various programs and activities that it will undertake to promote the rights and well-being of children and youth in line with Oman 2040 Vision.
