Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,730.85 points, down 0.85 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down 0.12 per cent at 524.65 points.

Al Jazeera Steel Products, up 5.63 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman & Emirates Investment Holding, down 8.70 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Jazeera Steel Products were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 346 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.08 million, with more than 7.3 million shares changing hands. Out of 35 traded stocks, 11 advanced, 8 declined and 16 remained unchanged.

At the session close, domestic investors were net sellers for OMR126,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR66,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR60,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,730.52 points, up by 0.70 per cent. Bank Dhofar, Sohar International, Al Anwar Holding, and Bank Muscat were up 4.00 per cent, 3.26 per cent, 3.08 per cent, and 1.00 per cent respectively.

Oman & Emirates Investment Holding, Oman Qatar Insurance, Al Omaniya Financial Services, National bank of Oman, and United Insurance were down 8.70 per cent, 5.26 per cent, 1.39 per cent, 1.22 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4,361.80 points, up 0.66 per cent. Al Jazeera Steel, Galfar Engineering, and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles were up by 5.63 per cent, 4.65 per cent, 3.33 per cent respectively. Raysut Cement was down 2.35 per cent.

Services index was up by 0.22 per cent before closing at 1,601.47 points. Al Batinah Power, OIFC, National Gas, and Omantel were up 5.63 per cent, 4.08 per cent, 0.69 per cent, and 0.55 per cent respectively. Al Jazeera Services and Renaissance Services were down by 1.19 per cent, and 0.59 per cent respectively.
