Expats barred from certain jobs in Oman by ministerial decree

Muscat: His Excellency Dr. Mahad bin Said bin Ali Ba'owain, Minister of Labour has issued Ministerial Decree No. 3/2021 to regulate some professions.

Article 1 of the decree stipulates that employment in the following professions in the private sector will be restricted to Omanis:

 1- Fuel station manager.

 2- Professions related to the activities and business of optics and the sale of glasses.

Article Two allows for licenses to bring in expats for the above professions to be valid till expiry. It also allows work permits issued to remain valid till expiry.
