Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,714.91 points, up 0.53 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.26 per cent at 526.15 points. Muscat Finance, up 10.00 per cent, was the top gainer while Raysut Cement, down 2.30 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 463 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.22 million, with more than 8.43 million shares changing hands. Out of 34 traded stocks, 16 advanced, 3 declined and 15 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net buyers for OMR92,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR118,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR74,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,738.64 points, up by 0.56 per cent. Muscat Finance, Al Omaniya Financial Services, Oman & Emirates Investment Holding, Bank Dhofar, and Al Sharqia Investment Holding, were up by 10.00 per cent, 5.88 per cent, 2.22 per cent, 2.04 per cent, and 1.37 per cent respectively. Oman Arab Bank was down 0.53 per cent. Al Madina Takaful closed lower by 1.28 per cent.

Industrial Index closed at 4,370.55 points, up 0.48 per cent. Oman Cables Industry, Oman Fisheries, National Aluminium Products, and Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles were up by 5.21 per cent, 2.33 per cent, 2.25 per cent, and 1.82 per cent respectively. Raysut Cement was down 2.30 per cent.

Services index was up by 0.92 per cent before closing at 1,617.44 points. Phoenix Power, Al Jazeera Services, Omantel, OIFC, and Sembcorp Salalah were up 5.77 per cent, 3.67 per cent, 1.67 per cent, 1.10 per cent, and 1.01 per cent respectively. Ooredoo Oman was down 0.51 per cent.
