Man sentenced to five years in jail, fine for child abuse

Muscat: Five years imprisonment and a fine of OMR 5,000 was slapped on a suspect for child abuse.

The investigations proved that the accused took advantage of the girl "victim" alone in the shop and harassed her, and by investigating the accusations he confessed to the crime.

Public Prosecution said, "The Court of Appeal in the North Al Sharqiah Governorate convicted the accused Salem bin Ali Salem of a felony of molesting a child and ruled that he be punished with five years imprisonment and OMR 5,000 while ordering the publication of a ruling and depriving the accused of practising the profession of selling food."
