Maritime Security Centre conducts rescue operation

Muscat: The Maritime Security Centre has conducted a search and rescue operation for the crew of an Iranian merchant ship that was exposed to a sank accident in Oman territorial sea near the Strait of Hormuz.  

A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA) said, "The Maritime Security Centre, in coordination with the Royal Oman Air Force, the Royal Navy of Oman, and the Coast Guard Police of the Royal Oman Police, carried out a search and rescue operation for the crew of an Iranian merchant ship that was exposed to sank accident in Oman territorial sea near the Strait of Hormuz on December 25."

"The various military, security and civil authorities concerned joined forces to recover and drow the wreck of the sunken ship to secure and ensure the smooth flow and safety of the movement of ships crossing the strait," the statement added.
