Covid-19 vaccine works to reduce appearance of symptoms: MoH

Muscat: The Covid-19 vaccine works to reduce the appearance of symptoms and complications, the Ministry of Health explained.

The ministry said in its campaign to raise awareness about the Covid 19 vaccine: “It is too early to know whether the Covid-19 vaccine will provide long-term protection, or to know the period of time during which the vaccine will continue to provide protection for the body and more research is needed to answer the question.”

The ministry added that there is currently no data indicating that any vaccines used for other diseases can provide protection from Covid-19.

"It should be noted that the seasonal influenza vaccine is ineffective against the emerging coronavirus, because this virus belongs to another family that is not included in the seasonal influenza vaccine," the ministry added.
