Ministry approval required for temples, churches to reopen

Muscat: Temples and churches in Oman will only be allowed to reopen after those responsible for their management have taken all the measures required to limit the spread of COVID-19, and have accordingly informed the relevant authorities.

“The reopening of churches and temples is not an automatic process, but rather the responsibility of the supervisors in these churches and temples, who need to submit the request to open them, and state they are ready to do so after implementing the precautionary measures required,” said a representative of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs (MARA).

The full list of requirements for religious places to reopen can be found on www.mara.gov.om/prayerroom_form.aspx.
