Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,603.89 points, down 0.20 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down 0.17 per cent at 510.97 points. Oman Fisheries, up 2.33 per cent, was the top gainer while National Aluminium, down 4.60 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and also were the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 470 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.0 million, with more than 5.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 470 traded stocks, 4 advanced, 16 declined and 30 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC and Arab investors were net sellers for OMR428,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR405,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR23,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,568.43 points, down by 0.28 per cent. There were no gainers from the sector. Gulf Investment, United Finance, Al Anwar Holding, Al Sharqia Investment and Sohar International Bank were down by 3.85 per cent, 2.27 per cent, 1.61 per cent, 1.49 per cent and 1.09 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4142.05, points, down 0.32 per cent. Oman Fisheries, Oman Cement and Al Anwar Ceramic were up by 2.33 per cent, 1.67 per cent and 0.42 per cent respectively. National Aluminium, Al Jazeera Steel, Oman Cable, Raysut and Cement were down by 4.60 per cent, 4.48 per cent, 2.34 per cent, and 1.73 per cent respectively,
Services index was down by 0.27 per cent before closing at 1,570.32 points. Ooredoo was up by 0.52 per cent. OIFC, Al Jazeera Service, Al Maha Petroleum and Renaissance Service were down by 1.1 per cent, 0.92 per cent, 0.64 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively.
