Over 5,000 registered for power, water subsidy in Oman

Muscat: There are more than 5,700 people registered under the National Electricity and Water Subsidy System as of 9:00 am on Monday.

Yesterday, the authorities published a decision regarding new pricing for electricity and water, which will be activated early next year.

Electricity and water subsidies cover a number of categories for those whose total family salaries are less than 2,250 which are as follows:

-If the monthly family income is less than OMR 500, regardless of the number of family members.

-If the family income is OMR750 or less and the number of family members is five or more.

- If the income is OMR1000 or less and the number of members is seven or more.

- If the income is OMR1250 and the number of members is nine or more.

But if the income is more than OMR1250, the family is not covered by the support, regardless of the number of family members.
