Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,597.32 points, down 0.15 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.35 per cent at 509.92 points. Takaful Oman Insurance, up 10.0 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman Arab, down 9.09 per cent, was the top loser.

Shares of Ooredoo were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and also were the most active in terms of turnover. A total number of 488 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.0 million, with more than 8.0 million shares changing hands.

Out of 52 traded stocks, 8 advanced, 15 declined and 29 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR13,000 while GCC & Arab were net buyers for OMR8,000 followed by local investors for OMR5,000 worth of shares.

 
Financial Index closed at 5,577.73 points, down by 0.08 per cent. Takaful Oman Insurance, Vision Insurance, Sohar International Bank, Bank Dhofar and National Bank of Oman were up by 10.0 per cent, 3.57 per cent, 2.25 per cent, 1.06 per cent and 0.67 per cent respectively. Oman Arab, Dhofar Insurance, Muscat Finance, and Bank Muscat were down by 9.09 per cent, 3.53 per cent, 2.5 per cent, and 2.01 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4,152.48 points, down 0.28 per cent. Raysut Cement and Al Jazeera Steel were up by 2.31 per cent and 0.73 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Ceramic, Oman Cable and National Aluminium were down by 2.62 per cent, 1.38 per cent and 1.16 per cent respectively.

   
Services index was down by 0.85 per cent before closing at 1,583.46 points. Ooredoo was up by 1.05 per cent. Musandam Power, Semcorp Salalah, Al Suwadi Power, Renaissance Service and Omantel were down by 9.09 per cent, 3.53 per cent, 1.92 per cent, 0.57 per cent and 0.57 per cent respectively.
