Muscat: The first of its kind in the Middle East, The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has signed an agreement with Wipro for operating the free & open source centre of excellence as stated in the MoU signed by the two parties in December 2019.
A statement issued online by Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology said, "The two parties per this agreement shall cooperate in many fields such as procuring the optimum environment for developing technological solutions, Exchanging data, knowledge, and studies. Additionally, it will establish the needed capabilities and expertise to create free and open-source software by Providing training, guidance, exchanging expertise, and technical support."
"H.E Dr Ali Bin Amur Al-Shidhani, Undersecretary of Communications and IT signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry and Sanjeev Tayal, Wipro Middle East regional manager on behalf of Wipro. The signing ceremony saw the participation of officials from oil, gas, banking, communications & IT," the statement added.
