These diseases, surgeries are exempt from free treatment in Oman

Muscat: The Minister of Labour issued a list of diseases and surgeries that are excluded from free treatment for expats employees in the government sector.

The Minister of Labour issued Ministerial Resolution No. 2020/327 to amend some provisions of the executive regulations of the Civil Service Law.

The decision stipulated that, "The list of diseases and surgeries excluded from free treatment attached to permanent or temporary work contracts for non-Omanis shall be replaced in the civil service law."

A number of diseases have been added to the list of diseases and surgeries excluded from free treatment which are diagnostic and therapeutic catheter treatment of the heart of all kinds, cardiac surgical operations, lung fibrosis, multiple sclerosis, acne, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, schizophrenia, Alzheimer's, metabolic diseases, and all dental services and treatments.

The previous list included only 11 cases that were excluded from free treatment, including organ transplantation, open heart operations, cancerous tumors, hepatitis of all kinds, infertility, hereditary and cancerous blood diseases, restoration surgery, hemodialysis, industrial replacements and addiction treatment.

The decision also included a list of medicines excluded from free treatment, including, biological medicines for the treatment of rheumatism and psoriasis, biological medicines for the treatment of asthma, biological medicines for the treatment of retinopathy, diabetes medicines from insulin-like groups, pre-hemodialysis medicines, medicine Botulinum for the treatment of motor nerve spasm and sweating.
