COVID-19 vaccine doses before year-end, but not for everyone: Minister of Health

Muscat: “We expect the COVID-19 vaccine doses to arrive in the Sultanate before the end of the year but due to limited stocks, we won’t be in a position to distribute it to everyone,” said Dr Ahmed Mohammed Al Saidi, Minister of Health, at a press conference on Thursday.

The number of positive cases has declined since mid-October, thanks to the compliance of precautionary measures by citizens and residents, he added.

“The opening of activities does not mean that normalcy has returned or there is no threat of virus. We should not lower our guard because even a little negligence may lead to rise in infections,” added the health minister.

Meanwhile, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said: The Supreme Committee has agreed to reduce the quarantine period upon arrival in the Sultanate and to suffice with the PCR examination, while adhering to the health isolation at the tourist facility until the results of the examination come out.
