Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,606.94 points, down 1.64 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.05 per cent at 510.91 points. Dhofar Cattle Feed, up 7.08 per cent was the top gainer while Bank Dhofar, down 6.06 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Salalah Port Service was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Bank Dhofar was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 656 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.9 million, with more than 14.72 million shares changing hands. Out of 35 traded stocks, 8 advanced, 16 declined and 11 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR196,000 while local were net sellers for OMR137,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR58,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,597.50 points, down by 2.36 per cent. Arabia Falcon Insurance was up by 2.67 per cent. Bank Dhofar, Ahli Bank, Sohar International Bank, Gulf Investment, and Vision Insurance were down by 6.06 per cent, 4.58 per cent, 4.26 per cent, 2.56 per cent and 2.3 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4,171.33 points, up 0.40 per cent. Dhofar Cattle Feed, Raysut Cement, Al Jazeera Steel and Al Anwar Ceramic were up by 7.08 per cent, 3.75 per cent, 1.44 per cent and 0.44 per cent respectively. Voltamp Energy, Galfar Engineering, and National Aluminium were down by 3.7 per cent, 2.38 per cent and 1.11 per cent respectively.

Services index was down by 0.07 per cent before closing at 1,601.73 points. Al Jazeera Service and Renaissance Service were up by 1.40 per cent and 0.57 per cent respectively. National Gas, Al Batinah Power and Oman National Engineer were down by 2.7 per cent, 1.92 per cent and 0.98 per cent respectively.
