Fahad Al Namani, a co-worker of one of the missing persons told Times of Oman, "Nearly 47 fishing boats from Mahout, Masirah, and Khalouf began in the early hours of the morning, March 11, to support the search teams and comb the area extending from Bar Al-Hakman, passing through Muhut to Duqm and Ras Al Madraka."

"Additionally, the owner of a petrol station in Mahout donated fuel to the boats," Al Namani added.

On Friday, March 8, 2019, six cousins from Qabil, went fishing near Khalouf when their boat overturned. Four bodies were found on the same day. Two of them were reported deceased, while a two were discovered to be still alive.
