Muscat: The number of blood donors in the Sultanate has increased during the year 2019 as the number of blood units collected in the Central Blood Bank reached 27,189 blood units.
In a statement issued by Oman News Agency said: “A report issued by the Department of Blood Bank Services of the General Directorate of Specialized Medical Care at the Ministry of Health stated that the percentage of voluntary blood donation increased by 93 percent , while the percentage of Omani donors reached 79 per cent , and for the first time donors reached 50 percent.”
The number of blood donation campaigns organized by the Central Blood Bank in Bawshar reached 399 campaigns and 99 campaigns organized by the Mobile Blood Bank. “12,630 donors donated these campaigns, while the number of those wishing to donate was 19,428 people,” the statement said.
