Muscat: Ethiopian Airlines has said that the airline will provide all the necessary support to the families of those who died on Sunday morning's air crash.
Flight ET 302 crashed just six minutes after take-off from Addis Ababa at 8:38am, and carried 157 passengers and crew on board. So far, no survivors have been found, and investigations are ongoing.
"It is too early to speculate the cause of the accident and further investigation will be carried out to find out the cause of the accident in collaboration with all stakeholders including the aircraft manufacturer Boeing, the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority and other international entities to maintain the international standard and information will be provided once the cause is identified," said Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Tewolde Gebre Mariam. "Ethiopian airlines will provide all the necessary support to the families of the victims."
149 passengers and eight air crew were on board the plane, and they were spread across 35 nationalities. The crashed B-737 800 Max flew back from Johannesburg to Addis Ababa and underwent a rigorous first check maintenance on February 04, 2019. Ethiopian Airlines has expressed its profound sorrow and deepest condolences to the families of victims and their loved ones on the tragic plane accident.
