Oman chess team beats French Team of Saint Ouen

Muscat: International Chess Academy of Oman defeated French Team of Saint Ouen. The students of the International Chess Academy of Oman (ICAO) displayed an amazing performance with a win over the French Team of Saint-Ouen. The omani team scored 158 points to 90 points for the French team.

The match was played online on the world famous chess platform lichess.org, which is hosting weekly millions of games! The competition was played on Saturday, November 21 between (7.15 to 8.45 PM) which saw the participation of 36 players from both the teams.

Ibraheem Rao took the first place in the competition followed by Aida Tayebipour (second) and Shlok Babariya came third. All the payers are students of International Master Ismail Karim who is coaching at the International Chess Academy of Oman since the creation of the entity in 2013. Karim has coached the National Team of Oman in two Chess Olympiads Norway 2014 and Georgia 2018. Omani Talent Ayoub Al Riyami, who is only seven years old, managed to take the 12th place with a score of 6 out of 10.

Chess is a perfect tool to help kids improve their problem solving skills. The game of chess has seen a boom since the pandemic started. World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen (Norway) Company Play Magnus has invested millions of dollars in online tournaments and coaching platforms. The International Chess Academy of Oman is still working online with the classes being held on Zoom and the practice being played on lichess.org.
