Muscat: Featuring powerful, efficient engines, safety attributes and onboard technologies, Renault Koleos has been winning the hearts of customers in Oman. The SUV is marked for its fuel efficiency and infotainment options too.

The 2.5-litre petrol engine in Koleos is an atmospheric, four-cylinder, 16-valve powerplant with double overhead camshafts. Power is 170hp (126kW) at 6,000rpm, with a peak torque of 233Nm at 4,000rpm. Care has been taken to minimise friction for enhanced performance and optimised fuel consumption. With 233Nm torque available from as low as 1,800rpm, it is extremely responsive at low and mid-range engine speeds and is particularly suited to towing (up to two tonnes). It can be specified with either two or four-wheel drive and is exclusively coupled to the X-Tronic automatic transmission.

Renault Koleos LE model hasLED fog lamps with chrome borders, new 19-inch Kavea alloy wheels and resplendent new front grill. The Renault Koleos SE has been augmented with Sand Grey leather seats, tilt adjustment front headrests, one-touch easy-folding rear seats with two-step reclining and power seats, electric power seats for driver and passenger, 18-inch Argonaute two-tone alloy wheels, auto-folding rearview mirrors with the door lock, auto-dimming rearview mirror. It also supports Apple car play and android auto.
The 2,705 mm wheelbase – for a total vehicle length of 4,673mm – counts amongst the longest in the class and allows Koleos to boast record-breaking interior space to position itself as a D-segment SUV. At the rear, Renault’s trademark style is again prominently on display. The wide, horizontal taillights amplify the impression of width (1,843mm) and draw the eye to the Renault logo on the tailgate. Chrome inserts set into the lower part of the rear bumper take the shape of twin exhaust tailpipes, a detail that is complementary with Koleos’ overall exterior design.

All-wheel drive system
The all-mode 4x4-i transmission available on Koleos features technology has been proved on millions of Alliance vehicles worldwide. This all-wheel-drive system permanently monitors grip levels to guarantee optimal traction in any condition. Very easy to use, a control switch situated to the left of the steering wheel enables the driver to select one of the three modes: 2WD, 4WD AUTO or 4WD LOCK. The combination of high ground clearance (210mm) and approach and departure angles of respectively 19 and 26 degrees ensures go-anywhere ability. The stylish body colours and wheel designs selected for Koleos ensure an elegance. It is available in seven metallic body colour.
Expressive Interior
The Koleos’ interior subtly blends robust SUV cues with the expression of quality expected of a large family saloon thanks to the use of attractive, scratch-resistant materials such as satin-finish chrome for the steering wheel, gear lever and air vent inserts. The centre console is covered by a protective film that is hardy and pleasing to the touch. The cushion-backed materials selected for the dashboard and door panels also contribute to the cabin’s restful ambience, while leather upholstery and leather-trimmed armrests feature contrasting topstitching.
The best infotainment
The entry-level version of Koleos comes as standard with an audio system featuring a 4.2-inch display (11cm) landscape-format, Bluetooth® connectivity for hands-free use of mobile phones and streaming of music stored on smartphones. It is also equipped with a USB port and a 3.5mm jack socket.
From the second equipment level, up, Koleos is equipped with the R-LINK 2 multimedia system. This connected tablet is featured across Renault’s high-end range and coordinates function like infotainment, navigation, hands-free telephony, radio and driver aids. Key features are two screen formats available: a 7-inch landscape or an 8.7-inch portrait, same tactile functions as a personal tablet (two-finger zoom, page scrolling, drag and drop, etc.), realistic navigation display with a 3D representation of buildings, connectivity and charging options include Bluetooth® for hands-free use of a telephone and audio streaming, a USB port, a 3.5mm jack socket, a 12V power supply and, an SD card slot, voice recognition for navigation instructions and telephone use, four customisable homepages with widgets for swift access to the most frequently employed functions, a wide range of applications designed specifically for automotive use available from the R-LINK Store.
Also, driving data (speed, RPM, fuel consumption, etc.) is displayed on the personalisable 7-inch colour screen of the instrument panel situated behind the steering wheel, in the driver’s line of sight. The power tailgate permits hands-free opening by simply waving a foot beneath the bumper.
Excellence in safety
Koleos benefits from Renault’s vast experience in the realm of safety and targets excellence in the independent NCAP tests. The following features are standard equipment: Two adaptive front airbags that inflate according to the type of impact and the occupant’s position in the car, two lateral thorax/shoulder airbags for the front occupants, two curtain airbags, anti-whiplash front and rear headrests, anti-submarining front seats, rear Isofix anchorage for child seats. All the seat belts are equipped with pretensioners and load limiters.
At the same time, the use of very high elastic limit steel for the engine frame and high-strength steel for the passenger safety cell was specified to protect the cabin in the case of a major impact. When it comes to active safety, Koleos provides the latest-generation Electronic Stability Control (ESC), traction control, braking assist, electronic brake-force distribution, and hill start assist as standard equipment. The Koleos comes with a large array of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), all of which can be controlled via the R-LINK 2 tablet. To alert Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). To assist rear view camera, front, rear and side parking sensors and hands-free parking assist system (Easy Park Assist).
Surround sound
Since 2008, Bose and Renault have worked together to design and fine-tune premium audio systems for the brand’s high-end models. Bose surround-sound technology combines crystal-clear quality with realism close to that of a live performance. Thanks to Bose Centerpoint 2 technology, occupants are enveloped in a rich, balanced sound wherever they are seated in the car. The system incorporates a digital signal processor located underneath the front passenger seat and a seven-channel individualised equaliser. This exceptional level of hi-fidelity sound is possible thanks to a tailor-engineered system that considers the acoustic properties of the Koleos’ cabin. It comprises 13 high-performance loudspeakers.
