Indian PM, President greet Oman for 50th National Day

Muscat: India’s leaders have sent greetings to the people of Oman and His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik to mark the country’s 50th National Day.

His Majesty received messages from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, and Foreign Minister Dr S Jayashankar.

Kovind “conveyed the heartiest congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, the government, and friendly people of Oman on the occasion of the 50th National Day of Oman,” said a statement from the Embassy of India in Muscat. “President Kovind stated India and Oman are maritime neighbours, and India attaches very high priority to further develop and expand vibrant strategic partnership between both the countries.”

Indian PM Modi sent a letter to His Majesty the Sultan, in which he recalled his state visit to Oman in 2018.

“He stated that India will be a trusted partner of Oman in its march towards renewed renaissance under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik,” added the embassy. “Prime Minister Modi also paid rich tribute to the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and mentioned he was a beacon of peace, and a global statesman.”
