Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,641.030 points, down 0.07 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down 0.39 per cent at 517.24 points. United Finance, up 2.78 per cent was the top gainer while National Gas, down 2.52 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Oman Flour Mills was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 335 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.7 million, with more than 10.0 million shares changing hands. Out of 39 traded stocks, 4 advanced, 16 declined and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR150,000 while local GCC & Arab were net sellers for OMR119,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR31,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,768.020 points, down by 0.23 per cent. United Finance, Bank Dhofar, National Bank of Oman and Bank Muscat were up by 2.78 per cent, 1.92 per cent, 0.64 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively. Oman United Insurance, HSBC Bank Oman, Al Omaniya Financial, Al Madina Takaful and National Finance were down by 2.50 per cent, 2.11 per cent, 1.37 per cent, 1.32 per cent and 0.74 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,045.78 points, down 0.24 per cent. Al Jazeera Steel, Salalah Mills and Oman Flour Mills were down by 1.61 per cent, 0.72 per cent and 0.56 per cent respectively.
Services index was down by 0.61 per cent before closing at 1,600.13 points. National Gas, Al Jazeera Service, Al Suwadi Power, Sembcorp Salalah and Renaissance Service were down by 2.52 per cent, 1.93 per cent, 1.82 per cent, 1.79 per cent and 0.58 per cent respectively.
