Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,643.44 points, up 0.05 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.22 per cent at 519.29 points. Phoenix Power, up 1.82 per cent was the top gainer while United Finance, down 10.00 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of United Finance were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 240 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.89 million, with more than 8.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 32 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 7 declined and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR178,000 while local investors were net buyers for OMR93,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR85,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,781.17 points, flat by 0.00 per cent. Al Madina Takaful and Bank Nizwa were up by 1.33 per cent and 1.01 per cent respectively. United Finance, Vision Insurance and Sohar International Bank were down by 10.0 per cent, 2.25 per cent, and 1.00 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,055.66 points, up 0.12 per cent. Oman Cable and Raysut Cement were up by 0.95 per cent and 0.61 per cent respectively.
Services index was up by 0.30 per cent before closing at 1,609.89 points. Phoenix Power and Majan College were up by 1.82 per cent and 1.69 per cent respectively. Dhofar Generating and Renaissance Service were down by 1.58 per cent and 0.58 per cent respectively.
