Muscat: Dar Al Atta’a Association’s “Together in Hardship and Ease” campaign raised more than OMR635,000 in six months for people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The aim of support campaign which began in April and concluded in September with a total collection of OMR639,000 was to support people affected by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
The six-month campaign sought to support individuals and businesses negatively affected by the lockdown or reduced working hours besides enterprises adversely affected by the pandemic in other ways.
The money collected in the campaign was also used to fund food requirements of those in need. Needy families were given a certain amount of money for food items depending on the number of members in the family. Payment of electricity and rent charges for one to three months was also provided by the campaign.
Dar Al Atta’a Association extended its thanks and appreciation to the key supporters of the campaign including Nama Group, Occidental Oman, National Bank of Oman, HSBC Oman Bank, Oman Shipping Company and Ooredoo.
Dar Al Atta’a also extended its thanks to the supporters for provision of monthly commodities including Lulu Oman (300 boxes of food items); Towell & Co (1,000 boxes), Carrefour (300 boxes); Canary Basmati Rice Company (600 boxes); Ay shay Application (29 boxes); and a donor who preferred to remain anonymous (100 boxes) among other supporters.
The team of the campaign comprised eight employees and the support team comprised 25 employees while the volunteers’ team comprised 76 persons.
Dar Al Atta’a chairperson, Maryam bint Isa Al Zedjali said that the ‘Together in Hardship and Ease’ campaign aimed to extend support to the families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
She said that throughout the campaign Dar Al Atta’s achieved much including participating in the national and humanitarian duty and task during the lockdown period and dissemination of awareness on the significance of collective work and voluntary work. She also extended her thanks and appreciation to all those who participated and supported the campaign.
