Over 1,000 permits for import exemptions issued in Oman in Q3

Muscat: 1,394 permits of exemptions for imports by industrial establishments from GCC countries were issued during the third quarter of 2020.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said: "The number of exemption permits for industrial establishment imports from across the Gulf Cooperation Council countries for which applications were filed through the Bayan system through Form ‘B’ was 1,394 during the third quarter (July, August, and September) of this year. This was an increase over 1,348 exemption permits issued for the purpose during the same period in 2019."

The Directorate General of Industry at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said, "Four applications for income tax exemptions for industrial establishments were studied during the same period of the current year. 135 applications for customs exemption were approved during the third quarter, compared to 99 approvals during the same period in 2019."

The Ministry also said, "The increase in exemption permits and applications for customs exemption was due to the investors’ approach to use electronic services provided by the Ministry’s “Invest Easy” portal and the“ Bayan” system of the Royal Oman Police, which have made the process easy and swift."
