Eight people arrested in North Sharqiyah Governorate

Muscat: Eight people have been arrested on the charges of violating the Infectious Diseases Control Law in North Sharqiyah. 

A statement issued by the Public Prosecution said, “On Tuesday, the Primary Court (the Criminal Department) in North Sharqiyah Governorate convicted eight defendants for violating the Infectious Diseases Control Law."

"As the court ruled guilty of all the defendants, and ruled that they were imprisoned for three months, of which one month would run out, and the first and second accused were fined an amount of OMR 2000, and the rest of the defendants were fined an amount of OMR 1000 and the seized phones were confiscated and the verdict published."

"The investigations revealed that on May 10, 2020, the defendants held a gathering in one of the breaks on the occasion of an event organized by two of them, and after interrogation, with them, they were referred to a specialized court.”
