Restoration work at Ras Al Hadd begins

Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has begun the restoration and maintenance work of the Ras Al Hadd fort in wilayat of Sur in the governorate of South Sharqiya. 

The ministry said, "Maintenance work includes rehabilitation to display the holdings, works to remove Al Sarooj mortar and restoration work, treating cracks in the rest of the walls of the fort and the roofs of the western tower and rooms, water leakage works, paving the floor of the outer and inner walls of the fort with flat stones, painting and sanding all wooden materials such as doors and windows."

"An iron network will be made to close 109 of the intersections and openings to prevent birds from nesting, making wooden barriers in the upper corridors on the sides of the fort for the safety of users, maintenance of electrical points in the rest of the fort's facilities, maintenance of sanitary materials and wiring work in the toilets and the roof, removing distortions from the landmark and cleaning work." The ministry added.

This work comes after the field visit carried out earlier by His Excellency Salem bin Muhammad Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, Sultan Al Bakri, Director General of Antiquities, Abdullah Al hajri, Director of the South Sharqiya Department and the engineer of the Department of Restoration and Maintenance Ahmed Al Alawi.
