Worker gets 3-year jail term for theft, faces deportation from Oman

Muscat: A worker, who robbed his employer after he was fired from work, faces a three-year jail term and deportation from the Sultanate.

Public Prosecution said in a statement: "The police station received a report from the financial director of a shopping centre about his being robbed by an unknown person, where a masked person turned off the lights of his home and sprayed a burning substance on his eyes and stole a plastic bag from his hand with an amount of more than OMR 6,000 inside and escaped."

"The accused confessed to the Public Prosecution office of having committed the crime, explaining that he was working in the same mall and that the victim had fired him, which prompted him to steal from him in retaliation, as he knew that his employer takes the sales proceeds to his home daily."
