Private sector companies urged to speed up expat replacement process

Muscat: Oman’s Ministry of Labour has asked private sector companies to speed up the process of replacing expatriate workers with Omani nationals.

During a meeting held between the ministry and representatives of private sector companies, Nasr bin Amer Al Hosni, the Undersecretary for Labour, told companies that they also had to provide on-the-job training to nationals to prepare them for the work they were likely to undertake.

Managers of these private sector firms indicated a willingness to provide job opportunities for Omanis seeking work, as part of its effort to involve more nationals in the private sector. Joint work teams consisting of representatives from the ministry and private sector bodies are to supervise the implementation of these measures.
