Muscat: At present, 5,145 students are enrolled with literacy centres in the Sultanate, a drop of 8.7 per cent compared to the previous year.
A statement issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI), said: “5,145 is the total number of students in literacy centres in the Sultanate during the academic year 2020/2019, with a decrease of 8.7 per cent compared to the academic year 2019/2018.”
“The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Education, is celebrating the International Literacy Day, which falls on the 8th of September of each year, to highlight the most important efforts and the most prominent projects and programs that support in eradicating illiteracy,” the Oman News Agency said.
