Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,769.09 points, down 0.30 per cent from the previous close.
The Sharia Index ended up 0.03 per cent at 522.82 points. Al Maha Petroleum Products, up 2.67 per cent was the top gainer while Al Hassan Engineering, down 6.25 per cent, was the top loser. Al Anwar Ceramic was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and also was Oman the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 545 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.9 million, with more than 6.8 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded stocks, 8 advanced, 13 declined and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR273,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR155,000 followed by local investors for OMR119,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed by 0.38 per cent at, 6,114.90 points. Oman Qatar Insurance and Bank Dhofar were up by 2.27 per cent and 0.90 per cent respectively. HSBC Oman, Gulf Investment, Al Anwar Holding and Al Madina Takaful were down by 2.0 per cent, 1.45 per cent, 1.41 per cent and 1.30 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,990.37 points, up 0.19 per cent. Raysut Cement and Al Maha Ceramics were up by 1.90 per cent and 0.48 per cent respectively. Al Hassan Engineering and Oman Cement were down by 6.25 per cent and 0.86 per cent.
Services index was down 0.38 per cent before closing at 1,574.34 points. Al Maha Petroleum Products and Al Jazeera Service were up by 2.67 per cent and 0.48 per cent respectively. Semcorp Salalah, Muscat City, Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, and OIFC were down by 3.51 per cent, 2.78 per cent, 1.82 per cent, 1.79 per cent and 1.04 per cent respectively.
