Over 5,000 inspection visits at commercial markets in Oman

Muscat: More than 5,000 inspection visits have been conducted by Consumer Protection Authority officials at commercial markets in all of the Sultanate's governorates from 25th July till 15th August.

A statement issued online by the Authority said: "The Consumer Protection Authority, represented by its directorates and departments, carried out 5,553 field inspection visits to commercial markets during the period from July 25 to August 15 year 2020 in all governorates of the Sultanate. Through these visits, the extent of the commitment of suppliers to the implementation of laws is monitored and it is ensured that prices are stable and that there is no unjustified increase."

"As a result of those visits, 122 violations were recorded including price difference between the shelf and the accountant, price increases and other violations."

The Authority calls on all consumers to report violations that affect their rights. The authority has 300 inspectors and judicial control specialists who monitor 220,000 commercial activities in the Sultanate.
