Muscat: The Blood Bank at Sohar Hospital has appealed to all to donate blood urgently.
A statement issued online by the Department of Blood Banks Services (DBBS), said: "Due to the decrease in the number of blood donors during the past days, the Blood Bank at Sohar Hospital calls on you to take the initiative to donate."
"Book an appointment to donate blood at the Blood Bank of Sohar Hospital by sending WhatsApp message to 79900799," the statement added.
To book an appointment for your blood donation through WhatsApp, please send the following information:
1. Full name with the Family name .
2. Civil ID.
3. Type of donation (blood donation / donation of platelets / donation of plasma)
4. The appropriate day and time for you.
The appointment will be confirmed via WhatsApp or via SMS.

"The blood donation appointment mechanism has been set up as a precaution to prevent the spread of infection. However, it is possible to donate blood without an appointment in the event that social distancing is available and there is no crowd at the blood bank. As for donating platelets or plasma, a prior appointment must be taken," the DBBS said.
