Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,747.96 points, up 0.48 per cent from the previous close.
The Sharia Index ended down by 0.06 per cent at 523.78. Oman Arab Bank, up 6.50 per cent was the top gainer while Oman United Insurance, down 3.65 per cent, was the top loser. Oman Arab Bank was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and also was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 593 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR8.9 million, with more than 47.2 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded stocks, 11 advanced, 10 declined and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net sellers for OMR6.9, million while GCC & Arab were net buyers for OMR3.48 million followed by foreign for OMR3.48 million worth of shares.
Financial Index closed by 0.25 per cent at, 6,051.30 points. Oman Arab Bank, Muscat Finance, Sohar International Bank, Taageer finance and Bank Nizwa were up by 6.5 per cent, 4.00 per cent, 3.03 per cent, 2.27 per cent and 1.00 per cent respectively. Oman United Insurance, Gulf Investment, Al Sharqia Investment, Al Madina Takaful and Ominvest were down by 3.65 per cent, 1.41 per cent, 1.39 per cent, 1.30 per cent and 1.16 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,996.06 points, down 0.18 per cent. Oman Cement and Gulf International were up by 2.65 per cent and 0.97 per cent respectively. Al Maha Ceramics, Galfar Engineering and Al Anwar Ceramic were down by 1.95 per cent, 1.85 per cent and 1.27 per cent respectively.
Services index was up 0.14 per cent before closing at 1,569.02 points. OIFC and Omantel were up by 2.22 per cent and 0.65 per cent respectively. Oman National and National Gas were down by 2.59 per cent and 1.79 per cent respectively.
