Muscat: VOX Cinemas has partnered with the Jawad Sultan family to manage nine City Cinema operations in Oman, a spokesperson for VOX Cinemas said.
In an e-mail to the Times of Oman, a spokesperson for VOX Cinemas said: “In September 2016, Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas (VOX) partnered with the Sultan family’s City Cinema chain in Oman to manage the operations of nine of its cinema complexes.”
The nine cinema complexes owned by City Cinema are situated in Ruwi, Shatti, the Muscat Grand Mall, the Azaiba Mall, the Panorama Mall, Sur, Sohar, Buraimi and Salalah.
Confirming this, P Chandrasekr, group general manager, Jawad Sultan Group of Companies, said City Cinema is now being managed and operated by VOX cinemas.
An understanding has been reached in this regard between the Jawad Sultan family and Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas, United Arab Emirates (UAE), he added.
The spokesperson for VOX Cinemas also said they will ensure that movie going experience across all cinemas in Oman is enhanced through the introduction of innovative theatre concepts, along with the latest cinematic technologies, new food and beverage offerings, a customer loyalty programme and an improved online ticketing platform to bring the best in entertainment experiences to Oman.
VOX Cinemas is owned by the UAE-based Majid Al Futtaim Group and entered the Omani market in 2014 when they opened VOX Cinemas in City Centre Muscat.
Following the launch of VOX Cinemas at City Centre Muscat, a seven-screen cinema was opened later at City Centre Qurum.
In September 2016, VOX Cinemas launched the first IMAX theatre in Oman at City Centre Qurum.
With around 26 cinema complexes, totalling 223 screens across the region, including 47 screens in Oman, 161 in UAE and 15 in Lebanon, VOX Cinemas is now the Middle East’s largest and most rapidly growing cinema exhibitor, according to VOX Cinemas.
