Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,551.35 points, down 0.25 per cent from the previous close.
The Sharia Index ended up by 0.09 per cent at 519.85. Al Ahlia Insurance, up 5.26 per cent was the top gainer while Renaissance Service, down 4.47 per cent, was the top loser. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and also was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 345 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.569 million, with more than 15.2 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded stocks, 12 advanced, 9 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR20,000 while GCC & Arab were net sellers for OMR18,000 followed by local for OMR1,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed by 0.19 per cent at, 5,676.02 points. Al Hlia Insurance, Al Madina Investment, Vision Insurance, HSBC Oman and Bank Muscat were up by 5.26 per cent, 4.35 per cent, 2.15 per cent, 1.15 per cent and 1.12 per cent respectively. Ahli Bank, Oman & Emirates Investment, Muscat Finance, Gulf Investment and National Bank of Oman were down by 3.08 per cent, 2.13 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 1.39 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,974.16 points, down 0.45 per cent. Galfar Engineering and Al Anwar Ceramic were up by 3.85 per cent and 1.33 per cent and Raysut Cement were down by 1.32 per cent and 1.32 per cent respectively.
Services index was down 0.43% before closing at 1,533.26 points. SEMB Corp Salalah, SMN Power, OIFC and Al Maha Petroleum were up by 1.82%, 1.45%, 1.19% and 0.40% respectively. Renaissance Service, Oman National Engineer, Phoenix Power and Omantel were down by 4.42%, 2.61%, 1.79% and 0.65% respectively.
