State Council panel discusses reality of elderly care in Oman

Muscat: The Social Committee of the State Council discussed the draft prepared on the study “Reality of caring for the elderly in the Sultanate of Oman."
The meeting chaired by Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al Amri, Head of the Committee was held in the presence of the Committee members and a number of General Secretariat employees.
The study aims to identify the reality of policies and legislations related to the care and protection of the elderly in the Sultanate, to identify the efforts made by the concerned authorities in this context, and seek to develop appropriate proposals and mechanisms to bridge the legislative and legal gaps in the field of the elderly care.
At the thirteenth Committee meeting of the first annual session of the seventh term, the committee discussed the proposals pertaining to the social impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic submitted by the Committee members.
During the meeting, the minutes of the previous meeting of the committee were approved, new work was discussed and the necessary decisions were taken.
