Drop in consumer complaints in Oman

Muscat: The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP), has recorded a decrease in the number of complaints by 19 per cent in the first half of 2020.

A statement issued online by PACP said: "The Public Authority for Consumer Protection recorded a decrease in the number of complaints submitted to it by consumers till the first half of the current year 2020, compared to the same period of the previous year 2019. This decrease is due to the increase in consumer rights awareness, as well as the provider's commitment to implementing consumer protection law and his keenness to realise consumer rights."

"Figures by the General Directorate of Studies and Development indicated that the number of complaints reached 5640, compared with during the first half of 2019."

The Department in Seeb had the highest number of complaints at 1,576.
