Ayurveda doctors stress importance of diet during pandemic

Muscat: Diet plays a very important role in ensuring people are able to take good care of themselves, particularly during testing times such as the COVID-19 pandemic, two Ayurveda doctors practicing in Oman have said.
Dr Ratna Hiremath and Dr Madhu Harihar, who are Ayurveda physicians at Sri Sri Tattva Panchakarma, recently organised a webinar on nutrition dynamics in Ayurveda, to share with people the importance of the knowledge of food in the contemporary era.
The event was sponsored by Rafeeq, Oman’s largest online supermarket, which has quickly become a household name for people to do their daily shopping.
During the webinar, which was held on 26 July, they guided the viewers on choosing the right type of food, while considering their geographical location, the time of day, the season and their individual body type. The doctors also provided general insight on reading the labels present in food packaging, the consumption of sugar, beverages such as tea and coffee, and also covered other important topics such as the benefits and drawbacks of intermittent fasting, and the need for regular blood test
Dr Ratna Hiremath also provided some handy tips on increasing Vitamin D absorption in the body and consuming good bacteria prepared conventionally, as they are an important source of Vitamin B12.
They also addressed live questions from the viewers at the end of the session. Mrunal Khimji, an established fashion designer and consultant at Mrunal’s Boutique, moderated the webinar, which proved to be of much help, especially during the pandemic, as people currently spend more time indoors, and are cooking and eating food made by themselves.
Sri Sri Tattva Panchakarma has been providing personalised consultation services in this region for over a decade in the fields of nutrition and diet, pulse diagnosis (Nadi Pareeksha), weight management and general consultations.
Sri Sri Tattva Panchakarma doctors are also available for online consultation through tongue mapping. The Ayurveda physicians conduct these personal consultations by checking the tongue of the patient for symptoms and other related evidence to understand the root cause of their current health condition.
Based on this complete oral examination, the doctors suggest the right diet and lifestyle and prescribe the correct Ayurvedic medicines.
