PACA announces gradual growth of air traffic

Muscat: The Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) has announced the gradual growth of air traffic transiting the atmosphere field of the Sultanate.

A statement issued online by PACA said, "Air traffic transiting the atmosphere field of the Sultanate is due to gradual growth, as the daily number of transit aircraft exceeds 500 after it decreased to less than 180 aircraft during the last period due to the contraction of air transport in the region and the world."

The statement explained that:" The aircraft which has been transited the atmosphere field of the Sultanate exceeded 40,000 during each of January 2020 and February 2020. the transiting aircraft during the month of March 2020, has decreased to 29,124. While In April 2020, the number of transit aircraft has dropped deeply to 7,104 only but in June 2020, the transiting aircraft again has increased significantly to 9,230, and more than 12,000 transit aircraft have been transited the Sultanate’s atmosphere field. "

"The daily average of aircraft has transited the Sultanate’s atmosphere field during 2019 is around 1,600," the statement added.
