Government clarifies stance on permits for movement within Oman

Muscat: The Government Communications Centre (GC), has issued a clarification regarding permits for movement between governorates.

A statement issued online by the GC said: "The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) kindly requests for the cooperation of all owners of institutions and companies regarding permits for moving between governorates."

"As the Ministry received several requests for getting these permits, it would like to clarify that, according to the decision of the Supreme Committee to deal with COVID-19, it will only issue permits for trucks weighing 3 tons or more, whereas all vehicles and trucks less than that weight can move within the governorate during the daytime period identified by the committee."

The MoCI further said that trucks weighing 3 tons and above can approach the MoCI directorates and offices in each governorates to obtain transit permits for movement of permitted items (foodstuffs, cooking gas and fuel tanks).
