MERA issues announcement on muezzins in Oman

Muscat: An announcement has been issued by the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs (MERA) to allow callers, muezzins to raise the call to prayers during the no-go movement period.

A statement issued online said: "The Ministry, in coordination with the Royal Oman Police, intends to allow the movement of callers, muezzins, to raise the call to prayer in mosques.”

“The callers must keep with them a work card or evidence of proof of their work to facilitate their movement during the period of closure in accordance with the decision of the Supreme committee,” the statement added.
