Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM30 index closed at 3,521.71 points, up 1.29 per cent from the previous close.
The Sharia Index ended up by 0.21 per cent at 521.230 points. Sohar International Bank, up 6.17 per cent was the top gainer while convertible Voltamp Energy, down 4.73 per cent was the top loser. Bank Dhofar was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 678 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR5.5 million, with more than 37.9 million shares changing hands. Out of 47 traded stocks, 24 advanced, 6 declined and 17 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR2.5 million while local investors were net buyers for OMR2.2 million followed by local GCC & Arab for OMR269,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed by 1.57 per cent at, 5,623.36 points. Sohar International Bank, Gulf Investment, Ahli Bank, Dhofar Insurance and Al Sharqia Investment were up by 6.17 per cent, 4.84 per cent, 4.0 per cent, 3.03 per cent and 2.94 per cent respectively. Al Madina Takaful and HSC Bank were down by 1.30 per cent and 1.11 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 3,943.94 points, up 0.01 per cent. Al Jazeera Steel, Al Maha Ceramics, National Detergent and Raysut Cement were up by 3.41 per cent, 1.52 per cent, 1.33 per cent and 1.0 per cent respectively. Voltamp Energy and Galfar Engineering were down by 4.73 per cent and 2.13 per cent.
Services index was up 0.13 per cent before closing at 1,546.05 points. OIFC, Muscat Gases, SMN Power, National Gas and Al Jazeera Service were up by 3.75 per cent, 3.4 per cent, 1.61 per cent, 1.15 per cent and 1.15 per cent respectively. Al Suwadi Power and Phoenix Power were down by 1.85 per cent and 1.72 per cent.
