Helicopter crash in Kenya kills four American tourists

Muscat: A helicopter crash in Northern Kenya has killed four American tourists and their pilot, Kenyan authorities have confirmed.

In a statement, Kenya's National Police said, "Last evening at about 8pm, a helicopter crashed at Central Island National Park in Lake Turkana, killing all of its five occupants.

"Security personnel dispatched to the scene confirmed that among the five were four Americans and their Kenyan pilot.”

The statement also mentions that current information indicates that two helicopters had landed earlier at Labolo tented Camp on the National Park’s Island, however one managed to clear the area safely.

Police confirmed that security teams were on the ground, adding, "the cause of the incident is yet to be established and the details of the deceased will be released once the next of kin have been notified.

"The National Police Service extends it's condolences to the families and friends of the bereaved."
