Oman is known for its majestic mountains and they dominate a considerable part of the landscape of the country.While in the north Al Hajar Mountains extend from Musandam Peninsula to Ras Al Hadd in Al Sharqiyah South, in the south the mountains of Dhofar region extend from east to west of Al Hallaniyat Islands.Samhan Mountain in the east and Jabal Al Qamar in the west are the famous ones.

Jabal Akhdar is one of the most popular destinations in the Middle East. With a height of 2,980 metres it is famous for its wide plateau. From the stepped terraces where roses, apricots and pomegranates grow during its respective seasons to the cool breezes that blow throughout the year, Jabal Akhdar is undoubtedly a retreat for all. It lies at the central section of Al Hajar range and can be accessed only by a four-wheel drive.
In Dhofar region Samhan Mountain is one of the most important mountain ranges with a height of 2,100 metres. While it is home to Oman’s Leopard Sanctuary, one can explore other attractions like seeing acacia and frankincense trees grow in the plains. One can also find other mammals like the Arabian gazelle, the fox and the Nubian goat.
